Physical Changes
The inside of your body has been going through many changes during your treatment. You’re probably experiencing changes on the outside as well. For some kids, hair loss or weight loss (or unwanted gains) are especially upsetting. Here are some suggestions for what you can do to look good and feel better at this time.

Hip Headgear

Even if you expect your appearance to change as a result of your treatment, it can still be a shock when this actually happens. Give yourself time to adjust to the changes. It may not be easy at first, but remember: although these changes will be with you for a while, they probably won’t last forever.
Hip Hats & Hair has hats with hair and wig alternative headwear and can provide free headware to children with cancer.
Hair loss is often the most difficult body change to accept. Whether you wear a head covering is up to you. Many kids experiment with different looks to find what’s most comfortable for them.

Caps or Hats
Hair takes up space, so hats or caps that you wore before you lost your hair may be too big now. If you buy a new hat, keep in mind that your hair won’t be there to cushion your head, so check the hat’s inside for scratchy seams. Hats made from natural fibers like cotton are most comfortable. You may want to have a few different styles for different occasions: dress, play, sleeping (without hair, your head gets cold), and protection outdoors (make sure the hat covers your entire hairline—down the back of your head).
